Michael Michael Stephens BA, LLB
Partner – Commercial Advisory, Film and PropertyMichael has over 20 years’ extensive legal experience in property, film production, commercial, and investment law. In addition to his general commercial legal work, he has been involved in a number of international joint ventures and investment projects. His understanding of New Zealand businesses and international connections have also proved valuable to clients. Alan Henwood BA, LLB Partner – Alan specialises in commercial and public sector property, including construction, acquisitions and disposals, property development and construction contracts. He also has extensive experience in local government and statutory land dealings, subdivisions, tenders, public works, reserves, endowments and trust properties, fitout, services and utility contracts and infrastructure projects, and the use of corporate and trust structures in the public and private sectors. Alan was an initial contributor to Brooker’s Local Government Law, on the subjects of Council controlled organisations, property and endowments. He is currently a contributor to Brooker’s Associated Local Government Legislation with responsibility for the Conservation Act, the Reserves Act and utilities legislation. In addition Alan has published a number of articles on the new Unit Titles Act 2010 which bodies corporate will be required to implement over the course of the remainder of 2011. Christine Field BA, Aff NZILE
Senior Associate, Legal Executive – Property, Commercial and TrustsChristine has had over 20 years experience in private practice, dealing principally with property work for individuals, trusts and corporates. She handles a large trust practice, and advises on estate and asset planning including wills. Christine has arranged easements and subdivisions for a number of developers, councils, State Owned Enterprises and Crown entities, and this has led to her specialising in these areas. Associate Lawyer – Commercial, Media and Intellectual Property ProtectionMichelle is a commercial lawyer providing specialist advice on commercial and corporate legal issues. She has advised clients on issues relating to the start-up of their companies, corporate structure and governance, constitutions, subscription and shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, licensing arrangements, and intellectual property protection.She has also worked extensively for the firm’s property and general practice, and has advised clients on leasing matters, the acquisition of businesses and properties both commercial and residential, as well as on trust structuring and asset protection matters.Recent examples of Michelle’s work include advising a client in the purchase of a franchise, and advising a client on the issue of equity securities with the involvement of the NZ Venture Investment Fund Seed Co-Investment programme.Michelle joined Stephens Lawyers in 2002.michelle.quek@slaw.co.nz

Jane Traynor BA, LLB SolicitorJane completed her LLB at the University of Auckland in 2002 and was admitted to the Bar in 2003. She worked in Auckland as a litigation solicitor for 2 years before travelling to London in 2005. During her time in London Jane gained further litigation experience in top tier firms and government departments as well as qualifying as a Solicitor in England and Wales. Jane returned to Wellington in 2010 and joined Stephens Lawyers to practise in employment law, film and entertainment, civil litigation and family law.
